Posted July 22, 2006, 8:58 AM.![]() A new summer heat wave Friday, July 21st saw temperatures again near 110°F in some WeatherCurrents communities, but not as universally hot as last Saturday. However, all-time station records fell again in Lake Elsinore, Sun City and Riverside. The previous records in all cases were less than ten days old. Another run at extreme heat was poised for Saturday, with high temperatures between 100°F and 110°F expected in most locations (except for Fallbrook and De Luz). Most WeatherCurrents stations have been in operation less than three years, so in many cases, earlier heat data was not available. Last Saturday, heat records fell in Murrieta, Lake Elsinore, De Luz, Fallbrook, and Menifee Valley. Lake Elsinore came in the hottest at 109.9°F. The only hotter temperature recorded in WeatherCurrents' relatively short history was 110.5°F in Temecula on September 29, 1999. Friday's heat was slightly different in that the most westerly locations, De Luz and Fallbrook, didn't participate as they had a week ago. Fallbrook was the coolest at 90.1°F, and De Luz was only slightly warmer at 92.5°F.
