Posted May 22, 2008, 5:56 PM.![]() A tornado touched down in Perris Thursday afternoon, blocking the Interstate 215 freeway during rush hour. Radio reports indicated an overturned truck on the freeway near March Air Reserve Base, and overturned railroad cars nearby. The storm apparently touched down at 4:45pm, near Oleander Ave. In the aftermath, oil and fuel were in traffic lanes, the driver of the overturned truck was taken to the hospital, and traffic on the freeway was being re-routed. Other reports of damage were not immediately available. Please email reports related to the twister. WeatherCurrents' Perris, San Jacinto and Lake Elsinore stations received significant rainfall in the 5pm hour, as severe thunderstorms passed through the Perris, San Jacinto, Moreno and Elsinore valleys. A suspected power outage, apparently related to the severe storm, appears to have knocked out the data feed from WeatherCurrents' Moreno Valley station, also in the 5pm hour. |
