Another storm rolled into the region last weekend, bringing more wet weather and cool temperatures. Rain from this storm was more widespread than the previous storm.
Precipitation totals from the storm were mostly under 1/2 an inch, with the notable exception of Simi Valley - where 1.12 inches was observed. This is consistent with the weather pattern observed on Friday, where a frontal moisture band brought significant rain to areas north and west of Los Angeles, where Simi Valley lies. That moisture band had weakened as it moved south and east of Los Angeles. Only Pinon Hills, located in the much drier Antelope Valley, failed to record any measurable precipitation from the storm. Other locations in the WeatherCurrents network averaged between 1/4 and 1/3 of an inch. In Yucaipa, 0.33 inches was observed (courtesy of Don Kramer), followed closely by nearby East Highland with 0.32 inches (courtesy of Peter Michas). In Temecula Valley Wine County, 0.16 inches was reported (courtesy of Jim Sappington).
Last weekend's storm was only the third notable storm of the 2017-18 water year. For most locations, the majority of the rainfall occurred on the 2nd and 3rd of the month. After a brief drying-out period, more rain is forecast for this weekend.
