Posted March 10, 2006, 2:14 PM.![]() As a strong, cold Gulf of Alaska storm began to send scattered showers over the region Friday morning and afternoon, pea-sized hail and ice pellets were reported in portions of the Temecula Valley. Pea-sized hail was reported in northeastern Temecula. Soft ice pellets had come down on two occasions in south Temecula. Rainfall overall was light through the middle of Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service short-term forecast Friday afternoon indicated locally heavy showers and hail would continue through the region until about 3pm. The bulk of the storm had yet to arrive in the region but was expected Friday night and Saturday morning. Convective showers may cause snowfall in the foothills and perhaps in portion of the inland valleys as the storm develops as forecast. Michael Mojarro contributed to this report. |
