By Jim Purpura. Posted November 8, 2011, 4:35 PM.![]() A slow moving storm system will affect southern California on the weekend, bringing the heaviest rain since February across Simi Valley. The moisture will stream in on Friday, and rain will begin late morning. There will be a chance of thunderstorms as well. The rain continues Saturday with the chance of a thunderstorm, and becomes more showery Saturday afternoon and evening. The showers continue overnight Saturday and end on Sunday afternoon. Rain totals are expected to be 1 to 3 inches of rain in Simi Valley, with 2 to 5 inches expected in the mountains. A few inches of snow could be expected above 5,000 feet, and possibly a 1 foot or more snow above 6500 feet. The last time rainfall totals exceeded 1 inch in Simi Valley was February 24/25th when 1.23 inches of rain fell. |
