A second, stronger cold front moved through the region Sunday, further contributing to an already wet February so far this year.
Showers lasted longer and were more frequent during the passage of Sunday's cold front, with rain arriving in multiple waves throughout the day - unlike the short, single wave of Saturday morning's cold front. Precipitation was not particularly significant, however it was generally more than the previous day's. Storm totals ranged from as high as 0.46 inches in Beaumont (Cherry Valley) to a mere 0.01 inch in Pinon Hills. The majority of WeatherCurrents stations recorded totals between 0.10 inches and 0.25 inches. Notable totals also included 0.40 inches reported in East Highland (courtesy of Peter Michas), which was consistent with that of nearby Beaumont (Cherry Valley)'s total of 0.46 inches. Additionally, 0.22 inches was reported in Temecula Valley's Wine Country (courtesy of Jim Sappington). Lake Elsinore and De Luz also recorded totals in the upper range. Moreno Valley, Riverside (Presidential Park), Perris, and Pinon Hills recorded less than 0.10 inches Sunday.
A brief drying-out period is expected to last for only Monday and Tuesday, before a larger, more significant storm with potential subtropical moisture will rain down on an already soggy region.
